From the very first day on the road of starting a business, we entrepreneurs are all driven to succeed. Although everyone's definition of success is different, the most basic success is to see yourself in the correct way. Did desperately working hard help you make your big dream come true?
From my experience reaching various achievements, only a clear direction and precise efforts can guide you to achieve your ultimate goals.
Life is meant for neither blindly pursuing happiness nor working hard for a living only. Most people can simply start one thing, but it's hard for them to last a long time. I had a client who’s a restaurant owner and a photographer that told me that he worked hard every day. He’s never worried about earning money but still couldn’t feel joy. He was always easily disturbed by other people and things in the process. In fact, his real passion is photography rather than running a restaurant. In other words, he’s not clear about himself yet.
If it also happens to you, I suggest that you think about why you started this thing in the very beginning, and what guided you to make the choice. Ask yourself, where does your confidence come from? How do you see successes and failures? How much do you care about your achievements? How much do you care about what others say about you?
We always hear “mindset is everything” in this day and age. I can’t tell if it is “everything”. However, it is a key factor in how far you can get from the first step. You can’t expect the mindset shift to happen overnight. If it can be achieved in a short period of time, no one would ever give up.
Whether you are a businessman thinking about investing every day, or just a student working hard to get accepted into a top university, the chance of success can be very high if you know the direction you are going. Compared with “just do it”, it is more important that you know what you are doing, why you are doing it, and how you are going to do it.
Siahna and I met each other while working on her music video for Mother. When I first heard her music, I couldn’t imagine that she was only in her 20s. I didn't
even know that she was a former star of The Voice until after we finished working. Surprisingly, she was only 15 years old at the time. Since that experience, she has never stopped pursuing her music, even though her major in college is marketing.
Below is a video of our talk. I hope it can bring some inspiration to those who are on a similar journey. No matter what industry you are in, and how big or small your goal is, the way to achieve it is similar: Do the right thing in the right direction over and over again, and leave the rest to time.
